Mani stone mounds - Tibet

Mani stone mounds

Mani Stone Mounds are piled at major roads or mountain paths by Tibetan people.

While some do so to measure distance, the Tibetan Buddhists construct these mounds in order to worship Buddha. Stones engraved with the Six-Syllable Prayer( Om Mani Pad-me Hum) and clay statues of Buddha compose the mounds, which are also decorated with sutra streamers.
