Mani stone mounds - Tibet

Mani stone mounds

Mani Stone Mounds are piled at major roads or mountain paths by Tibetan people.

While some do so to measure distance, the Tibetan Buddhists construct these mounds in order to worship Buddha. Stones engraved with the Six-Syllable Prayer( Om Mani Pad-me Hum) and clay statues of Buddha compose the mounds, which are also decorated with sutra streamers.

Ancient and modern adornments in Tibet

There are also some decorations on their caps. Besides red tassels, there is a top made of gold like an imperial crown in foreign cartoon films. But only aristocrats with credit and fame could wear it.

Today, young people chase after fashion and the traditional costume is fading out of their lives. But various traditional adornments do not disappear. On festivals, people will dress up traditional costume and wear adornments, which become the most ceremonious and splendid festival attire.

Yixing Purple Clay Teapot

Yixing Purple Clay Teapot

Qing Dynasty, Big picking up pot

Lying in the east Jiangsu Province, Yixing is well known for Zisha (purple clay) Teapot. Zisha Teapot is made from the unique clay in the region of Yixing, which is fine and contains much iron content. Made of this kind of clay, the porcelain is mostly red brown, light yellow and blackish purple. Zisha porcelain was popularized in the period from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) to the mid Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), due to the change of the ways of brewing tea.Oriental Teashop

Oriental Teashop

Oriental Teashop

I've been toying with the idea of writing a parody of the Monty Python cheese shop sketch as a tea shop but I'm having trouble coming up with the names of enough "real teas" to make it happen and if at all possible I'd like to avoid to having to use herbal. Also the more odd sounding teas like " Chinese Gunpowder tea" and "Yak Butter tea" would be great because not only are they real but others who don't know much about tea might think its a joke. Anyway if I get enough help to make this a reality I'll be sure to either post the finished product or a link to it here so other can read it. Oriental Teashop
